YOU CAN CALL ME KIKI…

Hi! My name is Kiara Prager, but I’ve been called Kiki most of my life (Yes, even before In My Feelings Drake lyrics existed). I’m originally from New Jersey, but I currently live in Los Angeles where I spend most of my time working in film business, comedy show production, script development, editing, and creating videos/social content for businesses and shows. You can often find me reading psychological research articles, screenwriting, working on films, taking pictures, attending comedy shows, or consuming as much film & TV as possible.

ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE IN ENTERTAINMENT…

After graduating with a dual degree in Psychology and Digital Media Production and having the opportunity to work in various sectors of the industry, I now have experience in film/TV development and production, post-production, website design, and social media management.

MY TRANSITION TO ENTERTAINMENT WAS NOT A TRADITIONAL ONE - I WENT FROM BEING AN ENERGETIC BREAKDANCING THEATER KID TO A HARDWORKING SCRIPT READER AND VIDEO EDITOR…

As a kid, I grew up dancing hip hop for ten years and taking several acting and musical classes. I participated in several plays and musicals and created dozens of short films with my siblings. Yet it wasn’t until high school that I truly began to take an interest in the industry. I joined Studio 462, the high school’s broadcast network where I filmed sports events and started a weekly comedy news show with a classmate called “Conversation Starters".

When I got to college, I started my own production club where a group of many talented students would meet to spitball ideas and then write, direct, and film satirical sketches. I began working in different sectors of entertainment throughout my summers and during semesters in college. I started as a script reader for Mandalay Pictures, Sugar23, and Anonymous Content. From there, I spent some time closed captioning videos for Daymond John and Catherine Zeta-Jones with The Shark Group, working for two independent filmmakers, and an author, helping edit and adapt her book for television. I flew across the country from NJ to LA for an internship with Discovery where I filmed, directed, and edited videos for their social media platforms and corporate website.

After college, I moved to LA to pursue a two-year entry-level stint in the world of representation. After working in the mailroom and as an assistant for the Digital and Talent departments, (Verve, A3 Artists, and Anonymous Content, respectively) I decided to make the jump to a production company, where I’m currently situated under the COO at Alcon Media Group. Here, I support the COO, run social media for shows, help build the company website, support the development, TV, interactive, and publishing divisions, and oversee office operations.

In between these roles in LA, I took on some odd jobs here and there and worked on several different projects. After a ten-year hiatus, I took up acting again to get exposure on set and to better understand professional television production. In my free time, I independently managed comedians and actors, taking headshots and helping them book shows and projects. I also began producing monthly comedy shows and working on plays and films as a stage manager and production coordinator.

PERSONAL STATEMENT AND GOALS

Enthusiastic and driven, I love to write, film, edit, act, direct, and research. In the long run, I strive to make a lasting impact on audiences through my aspiration to produce and direct content that sheds a meaningful light on topics in psychology. My passion for television production and story development began in my childhood when I grew up making videos with my siblings. I have been so lucky to have learned from my valuable mentors with 20+ years in the industry what it means to be a leader on both the business and creative sides.

A top personal goal for my future work is to incorporate my knowledge of psychology into the short films, media, and television series that I aim to produce, not only to spread awareness but to emphasize more generally the importance of mental health, diversity, and inclusion. I ultimately aspire to produce and direct my own content that makes a difference and has a major impact on the societal understanding of mental health (feel free to contact me for specifics or to collaborate.) Working in corporate business settings, busy agencies, and for individual clients and independent filmmakers has taught me to be flexible and how to best serve whomever I'm working for or with. Rather than being intimidated by the high pressure and deadlines that come with the entertainment business, I find that it motivates me and tends to be an environment where I thrive. Some skills that differentiate me include advanced IT knowledge and computer troubleshooting, video editing, graphic design, social media management, script editing, and a straightforward and communicative nature.

A few of my favorite things: food, horror movies, skiing, writing, music, nature, deep conversations, travel photography, psychology, and comedy/making people laugh.
